Student adopts dog after it 'saved her from attack' in Crete

A student has adopted a stray dog from Greece, after it saved her from what she believes would have been an attack by two men on the island of Crete.

Plymouth University student Georgia Bradley, 25, was on the beach when two men approached her and asked if she wanted to join them for a drink. When she refused, one man grabbed her arm.

As Bradley feared she would be attacked, a small black stray dog bounded over and barked at the men - standing by the woman until they left, The Plymouth Herald reported.

When Bradley returned home, she decided that she would fly back to the island to adopt the dog – a lengthy procedure which cost thousands of pounds and involved multiple trips to Greece.

The process was further complicated by the fact that the stray dog was pregnant.

But a determined Bradley stuck with the adoption, and has since named the pet Pepper. She also has six newborn puppies to look after.

“She saved me. She must have noticed something was wrong. When I went back to the apartment she followed me and finally let us stroke her. We had an instant bond.”

Earlier this year a pregnant woman was saved by her pet dog when an armed gang of men burst into her home in Gravesend.

One man held a knife to Kasha Marie Weston’s throat, as the others “rained blows” on her partner, the 24-year-old told The Mirror.

“I thought the men were going to kill us”, said Weston.

But the couple were saved when their rotweiller Rocky burst through the door and scared the gang away.
