A university student has been arrested for alleged collusion in the murder of a man who was said to have gossiped about her.
Kusuma Thongjinda, 23, of Trang province, denied all charges.
She was detained on an arrest warrant issued by Phatthalung Provincial Court on March 28 for colluding in murder and illegal possession of firearms, Pol Col Veeracharn Khunchaikaew, chief of the Crime Suppression Division’s sub-division 6, said on Friday.
Rung-aroon Khongjeen was shot dead beside a stream at the back of a rubber plantation in tambon Koh Tao of Pha Payom district, Phatthalung, on March 18.
Pol Col Veeracjarm said the victim was accused of gossiping about Ms Kusuma's personal life and damaging her reputation, Thai media reported.
CSD investigators allege Ms Kusuma and some accomplices lured the victim to the area beside the stream, and then shot him down.
According to the CSD Facebook page, the victim was the suspect's former boyfriend. After they ended the relationship the man was said to have often gossiped about her, saying she was a flirt. This enraged her.
Investigators learned the suspect was a student at a university. They arranged through the university to meet her. When the student showed up, the police took her to Pa Phayom police station for questioning.
Ms Kusama denied all charges during interrogation. She was being held in police custody.
