A promising young student tragically took his own life, an inquest heard today.
Jake Siddley was 21 when his body was found on the couch in the living room of his home in Walsingham Road, Childwall, on January 27 this year.
Liverpool Coroners' Court heard that he was last seen at 7.30am that same day.
The alarm was raised when his dad was unable to gain entry to the property later that afternoon.
He alerted police, who entered the address. He was later pronounced dead with no evidence of any third party involvement.
A laptop and notebooks belonging to Jake were later recovered.
Toxicology reports revealed no evidence of drugs or alcohol were present.
The inquest, which was attended by members of Jake's family, heard that he had battled depression.
Anita Bhardwaj, area coroner for Liverpool and Wirral, said it was clear Jake was an "articulate, intelligent boy" who "had an insight into his illness."
She added: "He made clear he had the best childhood a child could have and cared dearly for his family. But he couldn't get away from that dark part of his life."
Ms Bhardwaj concluded the cause of death was suicide.
A fundraising page set up in memory of Jake has so far raised £652, with proceeds going to the PAPYRUS charity for the prevention of young suicide.
