Stuart Malcolm fully focused on East Kilbride amid Forfar links

Stuart Malcolm has insisted he is fully focused on East Kilbride amid reports linking him to the vacant manager's job at Forfar.

The Kilby boss played for the Loons during two spells at Station Park between 2013-15 and 2016-17.

Despite overseeing East Kilbride's worst-ever start to a season in the Lowland League this term - languishing eighth in the table and 16 points off leaders Kelty Hearts - Malcolm has been tipped as one of the front runners to replace Jim Weir.

Weir resigned from the League One side on Sunday to focus fully on his recovery from a recent head-on car crash and applications to succeed him closed last night.

Asked if he had applied for the job, Malcolm said: "Nope. I've not spoken to Forfar.

"I'm only bothered about East Kilbride and all I'm focusing on right now is Saturday's game.

"Unless I'm told otherwise, I'll be there on Saturday."

Kilby host East Stirlingshire at K-Park tomorrow in round three of the South Challenge Cup.

Malcolm's men, who lost 1-0 to Kelty in the league last weekend, are the holders, but face an in-from Shire side who have won four of their last five.

"We'll have to prepare right because East Stirling are a good side," said the Kilby boss, who won the Lowland League last season.

"We've managed to beat them once this season already, but they are in a different vein of from to what we are right now.

"We've not really got started at home. We've been sticky for one reason or another and it will be a difficult game.

"But if we show the same desire and hunger to win the game as we showed on Saturday against Kelty, we'll certainly be a threat.

"We are holders of the Lowland League and it's not quite ignited the season yet, so with this cup we have to realise that you don't get anything unless you are in the fight.

"But my belief in the players we've got doesn't waiver.

"We've had a poor start to the season, but we'll be trying our best to rectify that and do the best in every cup competition we are in."
