Stuart Lubbock's dad's fury over Michael Barrymore 'sob story' to Piers Morgan

The father of tragic Stuart Lubbock was livid to learn that Michael Barrymore has spoken of his death on Piers Morgan’s Life Stories.

Terry Lubbock says the former TV star still has questions to answer on how the 31-year-old was found in the pool at his Essex home after a drug-fuelled party in 2001.

Barrymore, 67, was held in 2007 on suspicion of rape and murder but freed without charge.

However the scandal ended his glittering TV career.

Morgan says he tells of how he is still “raw with anger” that people “don’t want to accept he was innocent”.

Terry, 74, said: “Barrymore, he only cares about himself. He’s hoping this will rehabilitate him in the eyes of the public. He still hasn’t explained what went on the night my son died.”

But Terry, of Harlow, said he will watch the show, on Saturday, adding: “I’ll be interested to hear what he says.”

After the scandal, Barrymore emigrated to New Zealand with partner Shaun Davis.

ITV said it had contacted Mr Lubbock, adding the show treated the tragedy in a respectful manner.
