Stuart Kettlewell admits Neil Lennon Celtic protests 'scunnered' him and soured shock Ross County win

Former Ross County boss Stuart Kettlewell admits he was left 'scunnered' after the fan protests ruined their shock win over Celtic.

Kettlewell masterminded the shock result that ended the Hoops' run of domestic dominance as they dumped the Betfred Cup holders out of the competition with a deserved 2-0 victory.

Defeat ensured a first domestic cup loss in 36 outings for the Parkhead side, and started the downwards spiral of the the Premiership champions 10 In A Row bid.

Hundreds gathered outside the stadium to vent their fury as the day turned ugly and Kettlewell admits it spoiled a great moment for the Dingwall side.

When asked about the shock win on BBC's Off The Ball, Kettlewell said: “We were under a bit of pressure at the time.

"Our next three games were Celtic, Aberdeen and Rangers and we were under the cosh a bit in terms of how results were going.

“From my point of view I thought we could soak up a bit of pressure, and thought they were a bit vulnerable on the counter attack, and to be fair that’s exactly how it panned out.

“It was a funny one, we were sitting in the car park and that was the day the supporters were breaking down the cordoned fence, the barriers were coming down after it, and to be honest I was a bit scunnered after the game.

“It was a brilliant result for our club, the players and myself but (we are with) the players sitting on a bus no more than 20 or 30 yards from where the fences are coming down.

"We didn’t feel under any threat, but you are looking at the abuse the likes of Neil Lennon was getting, the players were getting and I can understand that supporters can be passionate and what not, but that probably soured it for us a wee bit.

“We are all in the same industry and there should be a mutual respect for what each other does."
