Stuart Broad has become just the third England player to make 150 Test appearances, after he was picked ahead of spinner Jack Leach for the second Ashes Test against Australia.
Broad joins former captain Sir Alastair Cook and long-time bowling partner James Anderson in reaching the milestone.
The 35-year-old is the tenth player to ever feature in 150 Tests or more and just the second bowler.
Anderson was also recalled by England, with quick Mark Wood also missing out.
Australia, who were without captain Pat Cummins after he was deemed a close contact of someone who tested positive for coronavirus, won the toss and opted to bat first.

Speaking after the toss, England skipper Joe Root said: "We'd have definitely batted first as well - it looks a good surface, but we will have the pink ball in hand early, on and with the glare that could play into our hands.
"It's unfortunate for Pat Cummins but it's the world we're currently living in. We're very wary of it as players, but we respect the rest of their squad too and what they are capable of.
"Stuart Broad and James Anderson offer so much all the time. For Stuart to get to the milestone finally, after that injury last year, getting to that landmark in Ashes Test, there is no more motivation needed for him.
"This is a great opportunity for those two to lead from the front again."
Steve Smith was tasked with captaining Australia in Cummins' absence and he said: "It is a huge honour. It has been a pretty interesting morning.

"I feel for Patty missing this game. He just said good luck go for it, it is your team this week."
Jhye Richardson was brought into the side to replace the injured Josh Hazlewood, while Michael Neser made his debut in place of Cummins.
"We've been really excited by what we've seen from Jhye Richardson for a few years now and Michael Neser, I'm really excited for him," Smith added.
