Struggling Yankees reach new 2020 low as Toronto scores 10 runs in one inning

BUFFALO, N.Y. _ A new standard for unsatisfactory play was reached Monday night by the reeling Yankees, when 10 different Toronto Blue Jays scored against them in one inning.

If their recent work was "not acceptable," as Yankees veteran Brett Gardner deemed it Sunday, then this was the kind of next-level awful that sparks raised voices in sharp team meetings.

Inheriting a four-run lead, Chad Green and Adam Ottavino made a spectacular mess of the sixth inning at Sahlen Field, a minor league park that proved a fitting setting for the Yankees' ugliest loss of 2020.

"I definitely feel like as a team we've been pressing," Yankees center fielder Aaron Hicks said before the Blue Jays' 12-7 win at Toronto's temporary new home.

"We just want that one blowout game where it's absolute."
