Struggling With Defense? This Community Guide Shows You Where Players Line Up in Every Formation

Not everyone is a tactician. Sure, many people who play College Football 26 will likely be very familiar with the sport of football and have at least a basic idea of where everyone is supposed to be at any given time. However, even if you’re familiar with the basics, College Football 26 goes a bit in-depth when it comes to positioning, especially on defense.

When scrolling through a team’s depth chart, you’ll see a lot of familiar terms — an LB is a linebacker, a CB is a cornerback, an FS is a free safety, and so on and so forth. However, there are certain positions that are a bit “new age,” for lack of a better description. Like, what is a “WILL?” What is an “SLCB1?”

To put it simply, these are specialty roles designed for specific defensive formations and situations. But even after having that explained, I’m sure most players who aren’t as experienced will have plenty of questions. Luckily for them, one member of the CFB community has demystified these terms significantly and shown exactly how the sausage is made when choosing defensive lineups.

Where Defensive Players Line Up In College Football 26

In the r/NCAAFBSeries subreddit, Reddit user Webstarrrr recently posted a detailed Google Presentation, complete with virtually every defensive formation in the game. Within that presentation, Webstarrrr also shows players where everyone is supposed to be.

It’s an incredibly useful tool for College Football 26 players who are either new to the game or aren’t as familiar with the X’s and O’s and need a quick education. Not including the first slide — which is essentially a table of contents — there are 58 slides, each with a detailed view of how each formation looks, and where everyone is specifically designed to line up.

What makes this presentation even more impressive is how accessible it is, even to people who might get easily confused (such as yours truly). Instead of assuming that everyone clicking on the document already has a great knowledge of football, Webstarrr lays out each slide in a bare-bones, no-frills way. By keeping the examples visual as opposed to splattering 1000 words on top of it, I would go as far as to say that anybody can give this a peek and immediately understand what’s going on.

So yeah, if you need any more examples as to why the CFB community is one of, if not the, best in all of sports gaming, here’s more proof. And if you’re looking for even more tips, be it QB play or difficulty sliders, be sure to check out the Operation Sports forums whenever you get a chance!
