‘Strongest Suitor’ Has Made Trade Offer for Raptors’ Pascal Siakam, per Report

In an NBA offseason that has revolved around Trail Blazers guard Damian Lillard and 76ers guard James Harden trade requests, one eminently tradable star has flown under the radar.

Raptors forward Pascal Siakam showed signs of delivering on his considerable promise last season, making his second All-Star game and averaging a career-best 24.2 points per game. However, he is due to hit free agency following the 2024 season, after which his four-year, $137 million extension will expire.

As trade speculation continues to swirl around Siakam, Shams Charania of The Athletic reported Tuesday morning that one team has formally made an offer for his services: the Hawks.

Per Charania, Atlanta offered forwards De’Andre Hunter and AJ Griffin to Toronto along with draft compensation—only to be rebuffed by the Raptors.

The Hawks, led by guards Trae Young and Dejounte Murray, went 41–41 last season and were knocked out by the Celtics in the first round of the playoffs. Toronto missed the playoffs altogether with an identical record.

Siakam is theoretically eligible for a $192 million extension, but per Charania, neither he nor the Raptors have shown much enthusiasm about extending their successful partnership past 2024.
