Scotland will be battered by strong winds and blizzards today as winter bites.
A yellow Met Office warning for snow expires at 3pm but it’s expected the white-out could continue until 8pm.
Alex Burkill of the Met Office warned freezing conditions will greet fans attending today’s SPL double bill of Motherwell v Celtic and Rangers v Hearts.
He said: “Supporters should wrap up warm as the wind chill will make it feel like freezing all day.
“I doubt if there will be enough snow to threaten the fixtures but the showers promise to be pretty constant and roads may prove tricky for those travelling to the game.”
The prolonged Met Office yellow warning includes Glasgow and extends into Central, Tayside and Fife, Grampian and Lothian and Borders.
This includes the approaches to Edinburgh, including the M8 corridor.
Accumulations of up to six inches are possible on higher routes.
Rail services are also likely to be hit, with Scotrail already running a temporary timetable due to Covid staff absences.
Icy patches will be an additional hazard, more especially across western coastal areas.
