A magnitude-4.6 earthquake hit Gunma Prefecture at 3:27 p.m. on Sunday, registering a lower 5 on the Japanese seismic intensity scale of 7 in Shibukawa, Gunma Prefecture. There was no threat of tsunami as a result of the quake.
The focus of the quake was located about 14 kilometers underground in the south of the prefecture. An intensity of 4 was recorded in the Gunma's municipalities of Numata, Maebashi, Kiryu, Isesaki, Higashiagatsuma and Yoshioka, according to the Japan Meteorological Agency.
