Police believe new images of a car driving away from the property where Central Queensland woman Rene Latimore was murdered hold the key to finding her killer.

The two images of the four-wheel drive, taken with a motion-activated camera on August 10, were released by police on Monday.

The 31-year-old mother was last seen alive in Koumala, south of Mackay, in early August.

Several weeks later her body was found at a rural property where she had been living with family.

Detective Inspector Tom Armitt said it was believed to be the same vehicle captured by a farm camera driving towards the property on the night of August 9.

"[The] Toyota LandCruiser was seen driving away from the Latimore property on Turnors Paddock Road, Koumala, on the morning of August 10," he said.

"Police strongly wish to speak to the person driving this vehicle as a person of interest in this investigation.

'Strong progress'

Detective Inspector Armitt said information around the images was crucial to solving the investigation.

"The investigation has made strong progress," he said.

Detective Inspector Armitt said police were in regular contact with Ms Latimore's family.

"Rene Latimore was a young mother and a beloved family member within the Latimore family," he said.

"If you do know any information, it is crucial that you can come forward and speak with police."

Last week Detective Inspector Armitt said it was believed Ms Latimore was murdered at the property on the night of August 9 or the early hours of August 10 and that she knew her killer.

He said there were no signs of any significant disturbances at the property, but machinery there may have been used in the crime.

"Not to murder her, but may have been involved in disposing of her body," he said.

Detectives have conducted hundreds of interviews and investigations are ongoing.
