Turkey’s Mediterranean coast has been hit by a strong earthquake, according to the country’s disaster management agency.
No damage or casualties have been initially reported.
The quake had a preliminary magnitude of 6.0 and struck around 96 miles off the resort town of Kas, in Antalya province - a popular tourist destination. The Turkish Disaster and Emergency Management Directorate said the quake was recorded at 8.32am on Tuesday.
Turkey sits on top of major fault lines and earthquakes are frequent, WalesOnline reports.
At least 17,000 people died in a powerful earthquake in northwest Turkey in 1999.
Last week the Greek island of Crete experienced a 6.3 earthquake, three weeks after another quake which killed one man and damaged hundreds of buildings.
The quake hit at 12.24pm on October 12, followed by two aftershocks.
It was felt on Greek islands to the east of Crete, including Karpathos, Kassos and Rhodes.
