Strong earthquake hits Nagano Prefecture

An estimated magnitude of 5.1 earthquake with a focus in northern Nagano Prefecture occurred at around 10:29 a.m. on Saturday. An intensity of lower 5 on the Japanese seismic intensity scale of 7 was recorded in Nagano, Omachi and Ogawa. No tsunami warning has been issued.

According to the Japan Meteorological Agency, the quake occurred at a depth of about 10 kilometers.
