'Strong bearing' - Nottingham Forest boss explains decision to sign midfielder

Boss Chris Hughton says he hopes new signing Filip Krovinovic can help Nottingham Forest get the goals they need this season.

The attack-minded midfielder has joined on loan from Benfica for the rest of the campaign, after his spell at West Bromwich Albion was cut short.

He helped the Baggies secure promotion to the Premier League in his first stint at The Hawthorns last term, and has made 12 appearances for them this time around.

He is unable to feature for the Reds when they travel to Swansea City for their fourth round FA Cup tie tomorrow.

But Hughton is confident he can help them in their bid to push their way up the Championship table when they return to league action.

“Filip comes with good pedigree and is a player we’ve been tracking for a while,” Hughton told the club website.

“We have found it difficult to get the goals that we’ve needed to win more games, so this is an area we’ve been looking to strengthen.

“In Filip we have a creative player who played a full season of Championship last year so knows the division.

“This had a strong bearing in my thinking and, from an offensive point of view, he gives us more options.”
