
Police are warning South Side residents about a string of strong-arm robberies reported over the last few weeks in Chatham.
In each of the four cases, someone approached a person and snatched property out of their hand by force, Chicago police said.
Three robberies happened near the CTA 87th Street Red Line station in the first block of West 87th, police said. The earliest occurred at 11:45 a.m. July 31, another took place at 5:33 p.m. Aug. 21 and the latest at 3:56 p.m. on Aug. 22.
A fourth robbery took place at 5:33 p.m. Aug. 21 in the 100 block of East 89th Street, police said.
The suspect is described as a male between 17 and 22 years old, 5-foot-6 to 6-foot-2 and 150-200 pounds with black hair.
