Strong and weak player performances for Cardinals vs. Raiders, per PFF

Several players stood out for the Arizona Cardinals in their 33-26 loss to the Oakland Raiders Thursday night. Other players saw their stock fall. Who played well and who struggled according to analytics?

Pro Football Focus noted strong and weak performances by individual Cardinals players.

Who did well?

PFF notes quarterback Brett Hundley. Hundley came in after Kyler Murray struggled and was productive.

Defensive lineman Sterling Bailey was not a player to get attention from any other outlet but PFF mentioned him, noting he “earned positive grades as a pass-rusher and in run defense to finish the game with a strong, balanced performance.”

Who struggled?

Quarterback Kyler Murray was noted, but that did not go unnoticed by anyone.

Two offensive linemen were named as the biggest strugglers.

Backup right tackle Korey Cunningham struggled against former Cardinals defensive end Benson Mayowa. In their words, Cunningham “was a turnstile.”

Starting right guard J.R. Sweezy was also mentioned for his poor performance. “He helped make a Raiders’ pass-rush that ranked dead last in the NFL a year ago look like one of the league’s best.”
