Striking images capture Walthamstow's spirit from celebrating the Olympics to hosting Tour de France

These striking photographs from Walthamstow celebrate the rise of Waltham Forest as a Borough of Culture and the spirit of its residents.

Adrian Callaghan, who grew up in east London, created the Walthamstow Pictorial project to document the unique character and characters of an area he calls home.

His book captures how the Olympic games, EU referendum and gentrification have changed the face of E17 in recent years.

It coincides with Waltham Forest being the first borough to be awarded the title of Borough of Culture from the Mayor of London that aims to recognise the importance of arts and culture in communities.

Images include colourful snaps from the celebrations for the 2012 Olympics as a parade made its way from Coventry to Walthamstow town hall.

Another captures The Walthamstow Stowaways Scooter Club as they set off on one of their ride-outs in 2014.

Jubilant scenes from 2014 are also featured as Algeria fans took to Hoe Street to celebrate their 4-2 win over South Korea.
