Striking footage shows Black Lives Matter protesters marching down O'Connell Street in Dublin city centre.

The demonstrators gathered in solidarity with American protesters fighting for justice after the death of George Floyd, a black man who died in police custody last week.

Hundreds of protesters gathered outside the GPO to demonstrate.

Protesters were seen wearing face coverings due to COVID-19 as they held anti-racism posters before marching down O'Connell Street.

Chants of "Say the name, George Floyd" and "Black Lives Matter" were belted out by the activists during the peaceful protest.

The death of Floyd sparked protests and riots across the US while people have joined anti-racism protests across the world.

Curfews have been imposed in cities across America with tense clashes with riot police and the National Guard.

And last night, protesters demonstrated outside the White House in Washington DC.

Derek Chauvin, the former Minneapolis police officer filmed kneeling on the neck of a handcuffed George Floyd, was arrested and charged with his murder on Friday.
