Strikes could mean a summer beer shortage with Wetherspoons and Greene King pubs affected

A summer beer drought could be on the cards as lorry drivers vote on strike action, a union has warned.

Unite says beer deliveries across the country, including in Yorkshire, could be disrupted, with major pub chains suffering supply problems.

Tomorrow (Wednesday) around 100 delivery drivers and staff at drinks logistics firm Tradeteam will ballot for strike action.

Complaints from staff at the company, which has a depot in Sheffiield, say workers are carrying 'unmanageable loads'.

If strike action goes ahead it could mean beer pumps at a number of Britain's biggest pub chains could run dry.

Tradeteam supply pub giants including JD Wetherspoon, Greene King, Whitbread and Mitchells.

JD Wetherspoon has been approached for comment.
