Annan striker Tommy Goss fired his first goal for the club and immediately dedicated it to his late mum.
The ex-Queen of the South player hit the decisive third strike after coming on as a substitute in the Galabankies’ 3-1 home win over Stirling Albion.
Goss, from Dumfries, said: “That’s my first goal for my new club and I totally want to dedicate it to my mum.
“She was 59 when she died recently. Her name’s Yvonne and she suffered a stroke and then a heart attack and died.
“I know she will be looking down and smiling on me.”
Goss quit Queens for the Galabankies in the summer and explained: “At Queens we had discussions about a new deal. I got on alright with the gaffer but I thought it was best for me to move to Annan where I would get more games.
“I didn’t think I would be playing as much with Queens. They helped develop me and I am grateful to them and wish them well. I just want to play games. It’s good to get my first goal and as a striker you want to score as soon as you can and now I hope to push on and get more.”
Goss charged virtually from the half way line with five minutes left as the Binos pushed for an elusive equaliser at 2-1 down.
He was pursued by Binos defender Jordan McGregor, but cut back inside him to crash a fabulous shot into the top right corner.
Goss joked about his pace: “Honestly, I am as slow as a week in the jail.
“I kind of felt the defender coming behind me so I cut back inside of him then just hit it.
“I came on and made an impact and I am pleased with that.”
