Striker set to seal free transfer after Nottingham Forest links

Former Newcastle United striker Facundo Ferreyra looks set to join Cluj just weeks after he was linked with a move to Nottingham Forest.

According to ProSport, a move is all but wrapped up for the forward who has been a free agent since leaving Celta Vigo.

Forest were heavily rumoured to be chasing Ferreyra who had been tipped as a potential addition to help bolster the Reds' threat in front of goal.

But it is now reported that Dan Petrescu has sealed a deal for the 30-year-old.

Chilean newspaper La Tercera had previously reported how the player had been “one step away” from tying up a deal with Colo Colo.

It was claimed that an agreement was in place with Colo Colo for a one-year contract worth approximately $500,000.

La Tercera report the board have “approved the signing” and “only details remain to close” his move, which was one of manager Gustavo Quinteros’ “wishes”.

They add: “The proposal leaves both parties satisfied and only some minor details remain to confirm the arrival of the footballer to the Chief, who during this day received the approval of the different members of the table, who were contacted by different means to endorse the transaction.”

Forest failed to bring in an out-and-out front man during the window, despite their goalscoring woes last season.
