Striker sends Jose Mourinho come and get me plea amid Tottenham's Harry Kane injury blow

Fenerbahce forward Vedat Muriqi has spoken of his desire to join Tottenham Hotspur to play for Jose Mourinho at a time when the north London club are assessing their options in attack due to Harry Kane's latest injury.

Spurs have been linked with the Kosovo international who has scored 10 goals and set up three assists in 16 appearances in the Turkish Super Lig.

Last season, he found the net 17 times and set up another eight goals in 34 league games in Turkey's topflight for Rizespor and got on the score sheet for his country against England in September 2019.

He has bagged eight goals in 23 international appearances so far and is highly-regarded for his link up play, ability to hold the ball up and strength in the air.

Jose Mourinho: Harry Kane's injury is serious

After tearing his left hamstring in a 1-0 defeat to Southampton on New Year's Day, Kane could be set for a long period of recovery with Tottenham still fighting for a top four spot in the Premier League and glory in the FA Cup and Champions League.

Speaking through his agent to the Turkish outlet Aksam , as translated by Sport Witness , Muriqi named Tottenham as the club he wants to leave Fenerbahce to join in the future.

However, he may not be the striker to come in and give Mourinho the cover up front he needs in January given his intent to win trophies for the Istanbul-based club before moving on.

"My current goal is to become a champion with Fenerbahce," he said. "It is a great feeling that big teams from Europe take care of me and want me.

"These offers make me happy. Especially Tottenham's. I would love to work with Mourinho, but first I dream of becoming a champion with Fenerbahce.

"Delay any bids until the end of the season."

According to Sport Witness, Fenerbahce value Muriqi at around £21million and would be willing to sell him in the summer transfer window.

Tottenham could have come up against the striker in the summer in Munich as they faced Bayern Munich and Real Madrid in the Audi Cup friendly competition.

Instead, Mauricio Pochettino's side beat the La Liga giants to progress to face the hosts in the final with Fenerbahce losing the Spanish side 5-3 in the third place play off.
