Striker linked with Nottingham Forest signs for new club

Greek striker Fotis Ioannidis will not be joining Nottingham Forest after completing a move to Panathinaikos.

Recent reports from Greece suggested that the Reds were making a late move to land the 20-year-old forward.

However, Ioannidis has now put pen to paper on a four-year contract at Panathinaikos.

He arrives from Levadiakos, where he played under Forest’s head of international recruitment Jose Anigo for a time.

"I am very happy and grateful to be at such a big club," Ioannidis told the official Panathinaikos website.

"I would like to thank my former team, Levadiakos, the teammates I had, and the president.

"Of course I owe a big 'thank you' first of all to my family.

"Panathinaikos is a new step in my career, a dream I had as a child.

"I want to achieve a lot with my new team and I will prove it on the field.

"I really liked the whole Panathinaikos project. That was the reason I chose to come to Panathinaikos.

"I will help as much as I can to achieve our goals. It is a great challenge for me to wear these colors."

Ioannidis netted five goals in 19 appearances in the Greek second division during the 2019-20 season, which was prematurely ended due to the coronavirus pandemic.
