Striker linked with Celtic in January to become free agent, club make statement

Danny Ings will be a free agent this summer.

The striker was linked with a move to Celtic late in the January transfer window. The Scottish Premiership champions were reportedly in the 'race' to sign Ings, along with Everton, Southampton and Leeds United.

The 32-year-old eventually stayed put at West Ham United for the remainder of the current campaign.

Now, it has been confirmed that he will be on the move this summer, with United confirming today that his contract will not be renewed for the 2025/26 season.

A club statement read: "West Ham United can confirm that Aaron Cresswell, Łukasz Fabiański, Vladimír Coufal and Danny Ings will leave the Club when their contracts expire at the end of the 2024/25 season.

"The four members of our 2023 UEFA Europa Conference League-winning squad all played their part in one of the most successful periods in West Ham United’s history, and will depart having made a combined total of more than 800 first-team appearances between them."

It remains to be seen where Celtic will look to strengthen in the summer transfer window.

Brendan Rodgers outlined his desire to sign a number nine after Kyogo Furuhashi's exit in January, but the club failed to deliver.

Jota will also miss the beginning of next season after he was ruled out for six to nine months with a knee injury sustained in his side's emphatic win over Dundee United just under a fortnight ago that secured the title.
