Striker Kyle Wootton reveals why he opted to leave Scunthorpe for Notts County

Notts County have completed the signing of striker Kyle Wootton on loan from Scunthorpe United, and he's revealed why he's dropped from League Two into the National League.

The 22-year-old will link up with the Magpies for the duration of the 2019/20 season, after signing a new contract with The Iron.

Prior to making his move to Meadow Lane, Wootton had made five appearances for Scunthorpe in League Two and is yet to net his first goal of the season.

The striker arrived at Meadow Lane on Friday morning and will train with his new teammates ahead of this week’s trip to face Yeovil.

Wootton says that others clubs in League Two were interested in his signature, but the lure of Notts’ ambition of returning to the Football League convinced him to make the move to Meadow Lane.

“This is a big club that wants to be back on the up and in the EFL,” Wootton told the club’s website.

“It’s a good challenge and I like that.

“There were teams in League Two interested but I felt this was the right move for me because of the manager and how wanted he made me feel.

“I know this league well. I’m a fairly young player but have a lot of games under my belt and that helps you no matter what, so hopefully I bring what I know I can to the team.

“I’m physical, I like to hold the ball up and bring others into play, I win headers and look to get on the end of crosses but I can play neat and tidy as well.”
