Striker breaks silence after reportedly agreeing to join Nottingham Forest

Cape Verdean international Nuno Da Costa has broken his silence after reports suggested he had agreed to join Nottingham Forest.

The striker has been heavily linked with a move to the City Ground this window, with reports in France today claiming the deal could be done “in the next few hours”.

The RC Strasbourg front man is said to be the subject of interest as Sabri Lamouchi looks to bolster his promotion-chasing forward line.

Reports in France claimed an initial bid of 1.5m euros was rejected, only for Forest to increase that to 1.8m euros.

French media outlet DNA also reported today that Da Costa had agreed a three-and-a-half year deal with Forest, and will sign the contract on Tuesday.

A fee of around 2m euros, plus bonuses, is what has been reported.

However, Da Costa has now seemingly hit back at those reports.

Quoting a DNA tweet with the Forest link, Da Costa posted a shrugging/bemused GIF with the caption “When I read DNA articles”.

Although the link remains strong, it may well be Da Costa playing down any potential move this window.

The 28-year-old has two goals in 20 appearances in all competitions this season.
