Strikeouts only 'outs' to Cubs' hot-hitting Kris Bryant

June 16--Kris Bryant has a chance Tuesday night to extend his hitting streak to 12 games, which would equal a season-high.

The hits have been accompanied by strikeouts, but that's the least of Bryant's worries.

"Strikeouts are outs to me," Bryant said on June 6, before he extended his current hitting streak to four games. "As we move on in the game, it's where the game is going. More people are striking out. That's OK. It's part of my game. I'm probably going to strike out a lot. I'll take my game over anyone else's. I'm confident in it. They (the strikeouts) don't bother me one bit."

Bryant has struck out 70 times, but he trails the likes of Giancarlo Stanton, Joc Pederson and Ian Desmond.

Cubs manager Joe Maddon has said that opposing pitchers have pitched Bryant extremely tough since he was promoted to the majors on April 18.

Bryant has struck out 14 times during his 11-game hitting streak, but that's overshadowed by his .372 batting average with nine runs, five doubles, one triple, two RBIs and six walks during his hitting streak.

"Everyone is throwing 96 mph with a sinker and a hard slider down and away," Bryant said. "I think we have to accept the fact there will be more of those. They still got to throw it over the plate the first two times (for strikes). There are a lot of guys who are going to strike out a lot. There are a lot of guys in the league that strike out a lot. We got to accept that and learn how to deal with that.''
