A LAKE Macquarie police strike force has released footage as they investigate potential links between a string of armed robberies.
Strike Force Woonooka was established last month to examine the spree in which three service stations have been robbed four times.
A man armed with a large knife entered a Main Road service station at Cardiff about 3am on June 10, threatening an employee. He took cash and cigarettes before fleeing on foot north on Lowry Street.
Two days later a man wielding a knife entered a service station on Main Road at Edgeworth about 10.50pm. He threatened staffbefore taking cash and cigarettes and fleeing south on foot along Garth Street.
A customer was attempting to enter a Cardiff service station on June 29 when another man approached him with a knife. The armed man tried to get into the store unsuccessfully, ultimately fleeing north on foot along Lowry Street.
In the fourth incident, on Friday July 9, a man with a large knife entered a service station on Collier Street at Redhead about 7.15pm.
The man threatened an employee, stealing cash and cigarettes before fleeing on foot. He was last seen going south on Woods Street.
Police said there were no reported injuries in any of the four hold-ups.
Detectives are examining links between the robberies, and on Thursday released footage of a man they say could potentially assist with their inquiries.
Police described the man as of medium build, wearing dark-coloured clothing and a face covering.
