Stricty's Aljaz Skorjaenc fights back tears in emotional video reunion with family

Aljaz Skorjanec was left in tears during an emotional reunion with his family in a video call on Morning Live.

Strictly Come Dancing professional dancer, 30, appeared on the show on Wednesday morning and was given a moving digital reunion with his family, who he has not seen for a year.

Presenter Gethin Jones revealed: "Well I tell you what, let’s see what they think of that of that comment right now because they are watching Morning Live from Slovenia."

A shocked Aljaz gasped: "No! No."

Aljaz then saw his family members appear on-screen, including his parents and his sister Lara and her husband.

Gethin then said: "So there you go, you’ve got your sister there, Mum and Dad’s there as well and your sister’s husband. Hello, good morning, welcome to Morning Live!

"Lara, have you got a message for your brother here? I can just see by your smiles how happy you are to see each other."

Lara then responded: "Yes, it’s a year last time we hug and kiss and really can’t wait to hug you again.

"Yeah, just like you said, it’s FaceTime and everything so we should see each other and call you. We are missing you so much and love you and can’t wait to hug you."

A clearly moved Aljaz was moved, saying, "Awwww".

He then spoke directly to the camera in Slovenian to his much-missed family.

The emotional moment was not without its amusement, however, as Gethin made sure to point out a similarity between himself and Aljaz's mother.

"I know this has got nothing to do with anything but look at your mum," noted Gethin. "Your mum and I have got the same socks on. Look at that. The same fashion sense. Lovely."

It comes after Aljaz and his wife and Strictly co-star Janette Manrara revealed earlier this month they are planning on having children.

"We always wanted to have a baby, but 2020 has definitely made me say to myself: 'You know what, Janette, it's never going to be the perfect time but it's always going to be the right time,'" she told Hello! magazine.

"As a woman who's a dancer, my body is my job so it's scary to make that decision about the perfect time to start a family. I always thought there would be a perfect month and year, but what 2020 has made me realise is that perfect time is never going to come along."
