Strictly winner Stacey Dooley 'signs £250,000 golden handcuffs deal with BBC'

Stacey Dooley has signed a huge £250,000-a-year 'golden handcuffs' deal with the BBC following her Strictly win.

The 32-year-old documentary-maker will become one of the biggest stars of the BBC, as she goes from strength-to-strength after scooping the Glitterball Trophy with professional dancer Kevin Clifton.

Stacey will become one of the 'faces of the BBC' following the deal, with expectations reaching beyond documentaries into her presenting entertainment shows and being a high-profile guests on other BBC programmes.

The deal will mean that she will work for the BBC exclusively and a BBC insider told The Sun that it was offered because "execs were absolutely terrified about losing her to another broadcaster like ITV or Channel 5."

Stacey is reportedly "happy to stay loyal to the BBC," as this is where she has done "the vast bulk of her serious work before Strictly."

BBC officials "can’t get enough of her," and it is expected that we can see Stacey "a lot more on television over the coming months."

Stacey has spent much of the past ten years making documentaries for BBC Three and from 2011 to 2017 she hosted the CBBC series Show Me What You’re Made Of.

This is where British children were given the chance to try some of the toughest jobs in the world.

Behind the cameras, Stacey fell for her dance partner Kevin Clifton during their Strictly journey and she split from her boyfriend of five years, Sam Tucknott, when the relationship became public, back in March.
