Strictly viewers divided over 'inappropriate' Sunday night routine

Strictly Come Dancing fans were unsure on Sunday night as the show's professional dancers performed another eye-catching routine.

Viewers tuned in to the BBC One dance contest's results show last night to discover who had made it through to the semi-finals.

Rose Ayling-Ellis, Rhys Stephenson and John Whaite were all announced as safely through to the penultimate stage of the competition.

But for Dan Walker and AJ Odudu it was a case of being in the dreaded dance-off.

Before the big reveal, the show's pro dancers took to the floor with a routine that has divided viewers.

Karen Hauer and Jowita Przystal lead the sassy, Janet Jackson-inspired routine.

But some felt it wasn't right for Sunday night viewing.

@revellliz fumed: "Really disappointed in tonight's pro dance - pretty tacky and inappropriate choreography for an early evening family show."

"This was completely inappropriate routine for a family Sunday evening show," Lesley wrote on Facebook.

Linda echoed: "A lot of sexual thrusting moved and content in this awful dance with poor music. Not suitable for early evening viewing in my opinion."

@max_kitty28 added: "I mean it’s a bit suggestive for half 7 on a Sunday night but fab."

"That was terrible and I’m sorry very suggestive. Hated it. Can’t they just dance Latin or Ballroom dances??!!" @sandypand tweeted.

But others couldn't disagree more.

" That was amazing !!!!!!! loved that so much," @ bernicemartens said.

@fionacowlam wrote: "The best ever routine so so good."

"This killed me. I loved this routine. I absolutely love @JanetJackson music so this was it for me. I was bopping along," @LadyBreenie shared.

@Dan_Baynham95 added: "That was one of the best routines I have ever seen from the pro’s!! I loved it so much #Strictly."

After performing their tango and salsa routines with professional partner Nadiya Bychkova and Kai Widdrington, it was over to the judges to make their decision on whether to save Dan or AJ.

And the panel unanimously voted to save AJ and Kai, seeing them through to the semi-finals this Saturday.

Following his elimination, Dan told Strictly presenter Tess Daly: "By the way, I would have saved AJ and Kai as well.

"The last 11 weeks have been absolutely amazing, I’ve genuinely loved every second of it."
