Strictly viewers demand Catherine Tyldesley is allowed to return after injured Will Bayley quits

Strictly Come Dancing viewers are demanding that Catherine Tyldesley be allowed to return to the show after news of Will Bayley’s exit.

The paralympian has been forced to bow out of the dancing competition due to a knee injury sustained during rehearsals, leaving just three acts for the final as opposed to the usual four.

So fans have called for the return of the Coronation Street star, who was ‘controversially’ booted off the BBC programme following a tense dance-off with Mike Bushell.

Cath and her pro partner Johannes Radebe were given their marching orders after head judge Shirley Ballas took the casting vote - leading to calls for her to be ‘sacked’.

Following news of his departure, one fan tweeted: “Now the competition is one couple short can Catherine-Tyldesley and Johannes be brought back?”

Another agreed: "Room for a Catherine comeback? #Strictly."

A third said: "Bring Catherine back to take his place."

Gutted Will, who was born with arthrogryposis which affects all four of his limbs, broke the news of his departure on Wednesday.

He said in a Twitter post: “I’ve loved being part of the show, and am so grateful for the phenomenal support we have received.

"I want to say a special thank you to Janette for believing in me, and giving me the confidence to believe in myself.

"The things we achieved, from our couple’s choice dance, through to the lifts in our salsa, will stay with me forever.”

Strictly Come Dancing’s executive producer Sarah James said: “We are so sad that Will is unable to continue on the show.

"He is an incredible and talented person who has brought us some unforgettable moments this series - in particular his powerful and moving couples choice routine.

"He will be greatly missed and we wish him a speedy recovery.”

Strictly Come Dancing returns next Saturday at 7pm on BBC One.
