Strictly viewers complain about fireworks ruining their viewing

Strictly Come Dancing fans were despairing as Bonfire Night celebrations continued from Thursday into Saturday night and spoiled their viewing.

Viewers sitting down to watch the hit BBC dance contest say distracting firework noise ruined the show for them.

They took to Twitter to blast the bangs and explosions outside for drowning out the music performed by Dave Arch and his band as the celeb contestants and their partners took to the dancefloor.

And they reckon it's even worse now that the Strictly audience is making less noise.

Because of COVID-19 restrictions the show has a reduced studio audience to clap and cheer on the dancers.

"The worst thing about the reduced Strictly audience is that I'm struggling to drown out the fireworks that some idiot insists on setting off outside my window," tweeted one fan.

"Quiet fireworks darlings," urged another viewer.

"Apparently JJ and Amy danced to Raindrops Keep Falling on My Head but here in my living room they danced to an explosion of fireworks," seethed another.

"I really don't understand why today?" agreed another.

"Same here, this is the third bonfire night on the trot, even my two-year-old grandson was telling them to shut up!" tweeted another.

"Same here, so annoying," commented another.

There were fireworks on the dancefloor with performances including Olympic champion boxer Nicola Adams, who studied at Hopwood Hall College in Middleton, dancing to Greased Lightnin' from the musical film Grease with her pro partner Katya Jones.

One fan described their dance as 'hot' and another praised 'Nicola and Katya are rocking it!'.

And the Strictly pros did a suave James Bond-theme routine to kick off the show.
