Strictly viewers accuse judges of 'overscoring' stars on Christmas special

Strictly Come Dancing viewers have accused the judges of overscoring this year's Christmas special stars.

Anne-Marie won this year's festive special ahead of Moira Stewart, Adrian Chiles, Mel Giedroyc, Fred Sirieux, Jay Blades and Adrian Chiles as she triumphed on the BBC One show.

But fans have accused the four judges - Craig Revel Horwood, Shirley Ballas, Motsi Mabuse and Anton du Beke - of overscoring the contestants as they lifted their 10 panel multiple times during the show.

In fact, the lowest score across the whole show was a joint 33 points for presenter Moira Stuart and broadcaster Adrian Chiles.

Fans took to Twitter to criticise the judges for their high scores, as one wrote: "You watch Motsi give Moira a 10 even though it was fkn s*** #Strictly," as another added: "There was about ten seconds of dancing there, probably still get 9s #Strictly."

A third shared: "10’s!!!! Are you having a bloody laugh?? AJ was gasping for 10’s all bloody series??? x #strictly."

"The sound you can hear is the judges' credibility flying out of the studio #strictly," a fourth wrote, whilst a fifth added: "Aaah! Now I get it! We are not meant to take the voting seriously tonight #Strictly2021 #Strictly #StrictlyComeDancing."

Anne-Marie was thrilled to win the show and she was pleased for her professional partner Graziano di Prima too.

Speaking after her win, she said: "I didn't hear my name then, I'm so happy. He wanted it so bad as well, I'm so happy."

Meanwhile, Motsi and Craig finally agreed on tonight's show after months of 'feuding' and disagreements.

Giving his verdict on Moira's dance, Craig said: "I'm going to be really really nice! I loved that. You came down the stairs like Shirley Bassey. You had all that confidence and you got into a fabulous groove. It was great - and hip action darling, amazing!"

Whilst Motsi said: "A Christmas wonder, we agree!" before she added of Moira's dance: "I absolutely loved it. I loved how you were just walking down the stairs doing the salsa, look at me."
