Strictly stars swerve Kevin Clifton and Stacey Dooley talk in awkward radio interview

It Takes Two host Zoe Ball awkwardly avoided asking Strictly stars about Kevin Clifton and Stacey Dooley during a radio interview on Wednesday.

Dancers Giovanni Pernice, Oti Mabuse and Dianne Buswell appeared on her BBC Radio 2 Breakfast Show to discuss their upcoming professional tour – for which they have just started rehearsing.

But listeners at home were eagerly anticipating their thoughts on 2018 winners Kevin Clifton and Stacey Dooley's secret romance, which was recently exposed by the documentary maker's ex boyfriend.

However, they were left disappointed, as while radio host Zoe alluded to the recent drama as she greeted her guests, she opted not to address it directly.

Stacey Dooley warned Kevin Clifton is 'commitment-phobe who falls in love every minute'

"Oh, it's all been going on, hasn't it? ," she said before their interview begun.

"I tell you! It's all been going on..."

"Well...", one of the dancers could be heard muttering in the background, before Zoe quickly steered the conversation away from Stacey and Kev.

Instead, she quizzed the group on the resignation of Darcey Bussell – a decision they all claimed to be greatly surprised by.

Kevin Clifton insisted he'd NEVER date a Strictly celeb - whilst secretly 'wooing' Stacey Dooley

The silence around Stacey and Kevin's rumoured relationship comes as fans have been growing more and more impatient for someone to confirm that the Strictly winners are now an item.

Speculation has been rife ever since Stacey's ex claimed to have found 'I love you' texts from Kev on the Glow Up host's phone, and angrily claimed that she later confessed her feelings for the dancer.

While neither of the pair have confirmed their relationship status, Stacey took to social media on Monday to cryptically claim there were "two sides to every story".

"I haven’t got the time or energy to correct some of the utter nonsense I’ve read on here," she wrote.

"Re Sam, I loved him v much and only wish him happiness and success going forward."
