Strictly stars look nervous as they leave hotel and head to studio for live show

The stars of Strictly Come Dancing looked nervous as they headed to studio today ahead of their first big live show tonight.

The celebrities and dancers were pictured leaving their hotel today and making their way to the studio.

Newcomer Kelvin Fletcher looked the most uneasy as he chucked his headphones on and marched down the street.

He will have been dancing for less time than the other stars as he was brought in at the last minute to replace injured Jamie Laing.

Comedian Chris Ramsey also looked uneasy as he grabbed a coffee. The funnyman failed to raise a smile and seemed to look very focused as he headed off for final rehearsals.

Will Bayley tried his best to look enthusiastic, but even he looked like he might be battling nervous ahead of the big night.

Most of the pro dancers looked confident in the final hours before the show, apart from Katya Jones who seemed a big glum as she left the hotel.

Aljaz Skorjanec flashed a big smile as he left the coffee shop while AJ Pritchard hid his eyes behind dark sunglasses.

Also spotted was presenter Tess Daly, who looked incredibly glamorous in a tight black outfit and heels.

Tonight's show is the first time the pairs will perform their routines in front of the judges.

They've previously only been seen as part of a group dance.

Strictly 2019 star Catherine Tyldesley has since since the stars shouldn't get too nervious about tonight as they actually get secret instructions during live dances to make sure they don't mess up.

The Corrie actress opened up about what really goes on during the live shows - and insisted she's amazed by the things she's learned.

As a long time Strictly fan, she was shocked to hear that all the contestants get given instructions during the performances to make sure they don't go wrong.

She explained the pros whisper directions during the dances and their words aren't picked up by the show's mics.

Catherine, 36, said she was worried about forgetting her steps until she learned the show's big secret.

She told Weekend magazine: "My biggest worry is forgetting the steps.

"I have no problem remembering pages of scripts, but my brain goes to jelly when it comes to dance steps.

"Although I've already discovered the secret to as why more contestants don't muck up.

"The pros are brilliant at hissing, 'Jump, turn, smile...' when you're in the routine.

"The group dance was hilarious [in previous show]. That was all you could hear."

James Cracknell, Chris Ramsey and Alex Scott are among the stars taking part in the current series of Strictly.
