Strictly star shares desperate attempt to recover after running the London Marathon

Strictly Come Dancing 's Tyler West has shared his last-ditch attempt to be dancefloor ready after he completed the London Marathon over the weekend, amid the BBC dance competition.

The 26-year-old radio DJ had been busy rehearsing dance moves all week in preparation for last weekend's performances with partner Dianne Buswell.

During the second live show of the series on Saturday night, Tyler and Dianne performed a theatrical routine, dancing the jive to Hit The Road Jack by Buster Poindexter.

The competition didn't stop him from taking part in the marathon while Dianne stood at the side-lines cheering him on.

Following the marathon effort on Sunday, Tyler decided to undergo cryotherapy treatment, which helps accelerate the process of recovery by submerging the body in low temperatures.

Tyler shared a snap of himself stepping into a pod with cold air coming out of it, as well as him wearing a cold-cover on his legs.

Dianne praised her dance partner’s run over the weekend, posting: “Tyler West was still on the run from last night’s bank robbery jive!

“So much so he just ran a marathon!!! Absolutely amazing, well done partner.”

Before the marathon, he took to his Instagram Stories to show his race number and added: "We’re moving to the start line, it’s absolutely crazy.”

Meanwhile, the day before, Tyler and Dianne were busy impressing judges with their jive.

The Strictly pair started the dance by jumping out of an old-fashioned motor car placed in the middle of the dancefloor.

They also used suitcases stuffed with bank notes as props throughout the performance.

Judges loved the performance and gave them a 31. It also secured him a standing ovation from head judge Shirley Ballas.

She said: "You’re the real deal. You bring something you can’t teach. You’ve got an attitude, you’ve got a soul… I flippin’ loved it."

Meanwhile, Kaye Adams became the first celebrity eliminated from the dance floor on Strictly Come Dancing 2022.

Loose Women star Kaye became the first contestant to leave Strictly Come Dancing on Sunday evening after she faced Matt Goss in the dreaded dance off.
