Strictly star Rev Richard Coles announces tragic death of partner David

Strictly Come Dancing star Rev Richard Coles has announced the heartbreaking news that his partner has died.

The Reverend posted the tragic news in a tweet explaining that Rev David Coles had passed away after being "ill for a while."

Richard thanked the "brilliant team" at Kettering General hospital for looking after David in his final days.

He tweeted: "I’m very sorry to say that @RevDavidColes has died. He had been ill for a while. Thanks to the brilliant teams who looked after him at @KettGeneral. Funeral details to follow.

"'The Lord shall be thine everlasting light, and the days of thy mourning shall be ended'."

As the news broke Rev Coles received floods of messages of condolences from his followers and friends.

Strictly professional dancer Dianne Buswell, who was partnered with Richard in the 2017 series, tweeted: "I am so sorry to hear this . Sending all my love to you rev ! my prayers and thoughts are with you x"

Fellow former Strictly contestant Susan Calman replied: "Oh darling, I’m so sorry. Sending all my love xx"

Rev David Coles, who was a big fan of TV chef Mary Berry, lived with his civil partner Richard in a celibate relationship.

In his Twitter bio, David described himself as a "carer to FIVE delinquent yet delightful dachshunds. A dliettante potter, designer, gardener and narrow boat enthusiast."
