Strictly star Kevin Clifton is terrified about Stacey Dooley returning to work

Kevin Clifton has admitted he's terrified about his girlfriend Stacey Dooley returning to work.

The former Strictly Come Dancing professional, 37, said he begs the BBC documentary maker to return home in "one piece" as she travels to war-torn countries to film her shows.

Last year Stacey, 33, travelled to a camp in Syria to meet Islamic State brides and she has also been to Nigeria to meet would-be suicide bombers who escaped Boko Haram.

Speaking on podcast Spill The Tea with Debbie McGee, Kevin admitted his fears about Stacey resuming filming with the coronavirus travel restrictions begin to lift.

"She's very brave," Kevin said.

"All I can say to her is just, 'Please be careful. Don't go too far to get some conversation you want or something.

"'It's not worth it. Just come back to me in one piece.'"

They got together shortly after Stacey broke up with Sam Tucknott.

Sam called Kevin a "rat" and a "snake" at the time but Stacey insisted there was no overlap between the two relationships.

Kevin quit Strictly back in March after six years as a professional.

Announcing the news on social media, he wrote: "I have experienced the highs of 5 finals, winning a Guinness World record on It Takes Two, the Strictly Arena tour glitterball and then the ultimate of winning the 2018 series with Stacey Dooley.

"After finishing last series with the Children In Need trophy and the Christmas Special I want to leave on a high and have therefore decided the time has come to move on and focus on other areas of my life and career."
