Strictly star James Jordan shaves his long hair off live on Loose Women for charity

James Jordan had his head shaved live on Loose Women by wife Ola Jordan on Tuesday, after he grew it out long due to "superstition" about his father.

James' dad Allan died last month from brain cancer, and James admitted he was scared to cut his hair while Allan was still alive, so he grew it out long.

The former Strictly Come Dancing star revealed his plans to raise money for The Brain Tumour Charity, as Allan was diagnosed with a terminal brain tumour in 2020 after suffering from a series of strokes.

Ola got to work on James' long locks during the break, and James looked like a different man when they returned.

"A transformed man!" said host Kaye Adams, praising Ola's work, as she suggested perhaps she should go into a new career in hairdressing.

Asked what his one-year-old daughter Ella thought about his new look, James replied: "She has done a runner!

"I don't know if that is good or not, she might not recognise me. She is a bit confused."

Announcing the heartbreaking news on 13 March, James wrote: "My dad became an angel at 8.05am. I will forever miss him. My dad will always be my HERO. RIP Daddy."

James had changed his profile picture on Friday night to one of himself with his arm around his dad while they were on holiday.

He had written: "No one should have to go through what my family are watching my dad go through I pray to God that you come soon and make him one of your angels.

Earlier in the month, James broke down on Loose Women as he spoke about the "horrendous time" his family were having, as his father was in hospital at the time.

In a recent Instagram video, he explained his fundraising plans, and said: "I haven't been on social media for quite a long time because unfortunately my father passed away on March 13th, and I've been totally devastated.

"I did try to do this video before, but I wasn't able to because I was too upset, but now I feel the time is right, so please bear with me," he added.

James explained his father's cancer diagnosis and how his family "watched him slowly disappear".

"A brain tumour takes away that person's identity a lot," he said. "I don't want any of you guys to go through what my father went through and what my family went through."

* Loose Women airs weekdays on ITV at 12:30pm
