Danny John-Jules has broken his silence in the wake of reports he has bullied his Strictly Come Dancing partner, saying his “conscience has never been clearer”.
The Red Dwarf actor was accused of making snide comments and reducing Amy Dowden to tears during rehearsals for this weekend’s live show.
“Amy’s been crying constantly at the hands of Danny,” a source told The Sun. “Danny swears and shouts at Amy a lot. She’s in bits.
“He also makes a lot of snide comments about him being famous and her not.”
John-Jules defended himself on Twitter and liked a string of tweets from fans who hailed him a “lovely man”.
He tweeted: “My conscience has never been clearer. I take great pride being hunted down by Khaki Wearing, Doberman holding, Tobacco chewing, Cross eyed, Cousin producing, Banjo playing, Chair rocking, Night riding, Sheet wearing, Pointy hatted, illiterate, hacks who’s truth is driven by hate.”
He also made light of the accusations, tweeting a picture of King Kong alongside the caption: “My new CV .....”
It was reported that John-Jules was summoned into crisis talks with show bosses and given a final warning.
A BBC source shut down the claims and confirmed the duo had a “small disagreement in the dance studio” but that it was quickly resolved on Wednesday.
They added: “Danny is not on any sort of final warning, nor is he a bully.”
John-Jules will this week dance the Samba to Feels Like Home. He will be hoping to win over the judges after a disastrous Quickstep saw him finish bottom of the leader board last week.
The actor was savaged by the judges after starting off the routine on the wrong foot.
