Strictly star Bruno Tonioli signs record deal to release disco album

Strictly judge Bruno Tonioli is to take the Cha-Cha-Charts by storm after landing a record deal.

Music bigwigs were so impressed by his singing performance on Strictly last year, he was offered a deal for a Las Vegas-style, Donna Summer-inspired album.

The star is now hoping to release the first snippets of his work this autumn.

"We’re discussing it, but I’m not going to rush because it has to be done right," he tells the Mirror.

"We’re working on it but it has to be good.

"I will do it - I want to do new material, not just covers.

"The sound we’re going to go for is anthemic disco-type songs, very uplifting, where everybody can dance.

"A bit like Donna Summer - like Last Dance but done with my voice and given a contemporary twist.

"I think it’s time for a little bit of uplifting stuff."

Bruno wowed with a rendition of Frankie Valli’s Can’t Take My Eyes Off You while the professional dancers performed around him.

The much-loved Strictly star also performed the song on the shows tour around the United Kingdom.

Bruno admits he could easily rush out an album, but wants to make sure his output is “at the level” of Strictly and the show’s tour.

"Wait for the autumn, I’ll maybe do a teaser," he hints.

An autumn release could prove incredibly timely for the star as Strictly Come Dancing returns to our screens.

However, Bruno insists he will not rush his release to enable him to promote it on the show’s music slot.

"I may do a song of that type so you get a feel,” he said, speaking at the premiere of the Prince of Egypt musical at London’s Dominion theatre. "

"But there’s no point doing something unless it’s absolutely at that level, to do Strictly.

"You put down songs in a week on a computer but we want to do better than that."

In 2016, Bruno released an album of curated Italian music through the Decca record label.

The Strictly star has worked in the music business as a choreographer for music videos, stage shows, and tours for over twenty years.

Bruno has worked with artists such as Tina Turner, Sting, Elton John and The Rolling Stones.

He also danced in Elton John's 1983 'I'm Still Standing' video.
