Strictly star Anton Du Beke set to make his This Morning presenting debut

Anton du Beke is set to make his This Morning presenting debut alongside Rochelle Humes this Friday .

The Strictly Come Dancing stalwart, who has been a professional dancer on the show since the beginning, will co-anchor in place of Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford, his former dance partner.

Du Beke is no stranger to This Morning fans, having appeared on the show in his own baking segment for the last couple of weeks, but Friday will mark the first time the star takes the helm.

“I can’t wait to join Rochelle at the presenting helm for This Morning on Friday,” du Beke said.

“I’ve big boots to fill. Hopefully viewers at home will welcome me with open arms and no doubt they’ll be a sprinkling of dancing with Rochelle at some point throughout the show.”

Regular Friday host’s Holmes and Langsford have been filling in for Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield all week, taking charge of their four shows while they are off for half term.

Du Beke has been heavily linked with the vacant Strictly judging role after Darcey Bussell’s departure earlier this year.

In April, the former ballerina announced that she was stepping back from her role on the panel, later revealing she “knew it was time” to finish up and leave.

Since then, the rumour mill has been in overdrive with possible replacements, with du Beke’s name cropping up several times and gaining backing from prominent Strictly stars.

It Takes Two host Zoe Ball told The Sun that the dancer would be “amazing” in Bussell’s role while former contestant Simon Webbe cited du Beke’s “experience” and longevity on the show in an interview with the Express.

Du Beke himself hinted that he would be interested and that he would “love” to be given the chance.

“Do you know what? I'm certainly qualified,” Du Beke told Graham Norton on his Radio 2 show. “I suspect there'll be conversations going on, but it's one of those things... I'm definitely qualified to do it, I'd love to do it, but we'll have to wait to be asked in the normal way.”

This Morning is on ITV, weekdays at 10.30am
