Strictly spoiler finally leaks but fans are 'conflicted' on result as popular couple exit

Strictly Come Dancing fans were left in limbo for longer than usual to find out which couple has forced out of the competition falling short of the final.

Left standing for Sunday's semi-final were Hamza Yassin and Jowita Przystal, Molly Rainford and Carlos Gu, Fleur East and Vito Coppola, Will Mellor and Nancy Xu and Helen Skelton and Gorka Marquez.

And with two numbers to perform on the dance floor the pressure was on to earn those all important points to earn their place in the competition.

But some viewers back home were left frustrated last night when spoilers —which typically drop around midnight — failed to find their way into their Twitter feed with 'reputable' sources unable to confirm the out-going contestants.

Hamza and Jowita claimed the top spot of the leaderboard, with an overall score of 76 out of 80, ahead of Molly and Carlos in second.

And at the other end of the table Will Mellor finished at the bottom, although the critiques and scores were much improved their second performance.

Longing for news to break on Twitter, one viewer posted: "Waiting for the #StrictlySpoiler is giving me huge anxiety," with a second tweeting: " #StrictlySpoiler pls hurry up. im stressed and want to go to sleep"

The person who runs the Strictly Spoiler Twitter account had an update for fans as the time neared 1am, writing: "Sorry guys but that’s about me for the night as I have a lecture at 9am I’ve no mole and other (reputable) sources are struggling too. There will be a spoiler but it’s either going to be overnight or early morning if a mole comes through or I have my other source I used in covid."

By 8am on Monday, there was still no concrete answer, with fans facing up to the fact they might actually have to watch the results show to find out who was in the dance off and who went home.

However, when the spoiler account finally published the result not long after 11am, with followers conflicted on the outcome. One replied: "wrong person to go imo," while another said the judges had made 'the right decision.'

But elsewhere on Twitter other users remained convinced that they had predicted who was going home.

One viewer said: "I think Will vs Fleur with Will leaving, there is no way Molly should be in the bottom."

Another tweeted: " Fun from Will but that won’t get him into the final… shame as I’ve enjoyed him all series. If he’s in bottom 2 he’s gone."

A third agreed: " Will and Molly bottom two. Will goes home. Just my opinion," while, a fourth fan wrote: " Will danced the worst tonight he should go."

For the first time in the show's long-running history, the programme will air on BBC One at on a Monday, at 8.15pm, when Lewis Capaldi will perform in the studio and there will be a group number involving judge Craig Revel-Horwood.
