Strictly scores suggest 'wrong' couple won series with Maisie and Gorka highest average scorers

Strictly fans have revealed the 'true winners' of this year, with the average scores revealing a different couple should have perhaps won the show.

Following months of keeping the nation entertained when we needed it most, Strictly 2020 came to a rip-roaring end on Saturday night with the grand final as Bill Bailey, HRVY, Jamie Laing and Maisie Smith took to the ballroom with their eyes on the Glitterball trophy.

After dancing three routines each with their professional partners Oti Mabuse, Janette Manrara, Karen Hauer and Gorka Marquez in a bid to impress viewers it was bookies favourite Bill who triumphed in the final public vote of the series, much to his own disbelief.

While many fans were delighted that Bill, 55, emerged victorious, becoming the oldest winner in Strictly history, others argued he wasn't the best dancer on the night or indeed the series, despite the fact that he, HRVY and Maisie all tied on 88/90 from the judges.

And the average overall scores for this year reveal that they are in fact right as it is Maisie and Gorka who have the highest average score.

The scores, totted up on fan site Ultimate Strictly, rank all the couples based on their average, calculated using all their scores throughout the series.

All four couples in the final danced a total of 12 dances by the end of the show and on scores alone it is Maisie and Gorka who reign supreme with an average of 27.33 out of a possible 30.

HRVY and Janette are second on a score of 26.92 with actual winners Bill and Oti on 25.08 and Jamie and Karen on 24.

But, unfortunately for Maisie and Gorka, the judges' scores had absolutely no influence on Saturday's result, with it being determined completely by the public vote.

Some Strictly fans were fuming the EastEnders actress didn't win, with one tweeting: "Just gonna say Maisie should of won strictly," and, in agreement, another reacting: "Well it shouldn’t be called strictly come dancing then if it’s not a dance competition, carry on strictly would be more apt, Maisie was robbed
