Strictly's Zara McDermott hospitalised days before Christmas

Zara McDermott has revealed she was hospitalised just days before Christmas after needing to undergo a procedure.

The 27-year-old former Love Island star, who recently competed on Strictly Come Dancing, took to Instagram Stories to give a health update from her hospital bed.

In the image she can be seen wearing candy cane patterned pyjamas as she holds her festively red manicured hand to her face. A hospital band is clearly visible on her wrist and she is connected to an IV drip.

"Had a little procedure done yesterday! Now ready for a super chilled Xmas," she captioned the snap, but didn't elaborate on what procedure was.

The reality TV favourite has had a busy couple of months, including being the fifth contestant to be voted off the BBC dance competition, where she was paired with professional dancer Graziano Di Prima.

She also supported boyfriend Sam Thompson from afar as he competed in the Australian jungle on ITV's I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here.

McDermott frequently took to social media to show her watching him on TV as she cheered him on from home.

The former Made In Chelsea star was eventually crowned the overall winner after triumphing against fellow finalists Tony Bellew and Nigel Fargage.

McDermott had hosted a big watch party for the final with their friends and family present.

Uploading a clip online of them all going wild when Thompson's name was announced, she wrote: "The moment we all found out… OUR KING OF THE JUNGLE!!!!!!!"The two enjoyed an emotional reunion at London's Heathrow airport last week.
