Strictly's Will Mellor jokes his wife is 'not complaining' about his toned dancer's body

Strictly's Will Mellor says he has developed a chiselled physique thanks to gruelling dance rehearsals – and his wife of 15 years Michelle McSween is a big fan.

The actor, 46, has been wowing viewers with his routines each week as he takes to the floor with dance partner Nancy Xu – and has sported some very glittery costumes.

Seven weeks in, Will says he has noticed a difference to his frame, which he says has become more ripped.

Of how his wife Michelle is his biggest fan of his honed physique, Will tells Closer : "She doesn't complain, I do look good now and I'm happy with it. It's a shame that when Strictly finishes it's not summer so I can't get my shirt off on the beach.

"I might have to fly somewhere hot just to get my new body out.

"Listen, my kids don't find it sexy when I'm dancing around the house, I'll tell you that. They tell me to sit down and stop it."

Will added he loves to dance like nobody's watching.

Will and Michelle met when they starred together on the stage musical Oh, What a Night in 1999.

The couple went on to marry in 2007 and have two children Jayden, 18, and 14-year-old Renee together.

Will and Michelle revealed they keep their spark alive by having sex in the afternoon in an interview in 2021.

When asked by OK! how they keep the flame of love burning, Will said: "Sex in the afternoon!"

And Michelle simply added: "Wa-hey!"

The actor then continued: "We just make time for each other. We hate routine – it kills the romance – so it’s important for us to step out of that when we can."

It comes after Will shared how he keeps his late father's memory alive every time he steps on to the dance floor.

The former Hollyoaks actor tragically lost his beloved father Bill to cancer in 2020.

Will says the loss of his dad still impacts him daily and he was inspired to seize every opportunity – including his current stint on Strictly – in Bill's honour.

While Will has made no secret of his love for his late dad, viewers may not have noticed a secret gesture the former soap star has come to undertake to make sure his dad is always with him on the dancefloor.

Will has found wearing his dad's ring a way of taking a moment of contemplation amid the sequins and spotlights of the Strictly studio.

Speaking to OK! magazine, Will said: "I wear his ring every day for every performance. I always have a little moment with it before I go on and dance. It means he’s with me.

"He gave me the confidence to go and do this. When I was a kid he was always saying, ‘You can go and do it,’ and I came from somewhere where no-one did what I wanted to do.''
