Strictly's Will Mellor gets apology from partner Nancy Xu after scores take a dive

Will Mellor got an apology from his pro dancer partner Nancy Xu for 'pushing him too hard' after his scores took a dive on Saturday's Strictly Come Dancing.

Former Hollyoaks and Two Pints of Lager star Will had a dream start to his Strictly journey last weekend when the judges and viewers at home were left speechless by his first live show performance, after he and pro Nancy lit up the dancefloor with a red hot jive to Ricky Martin's Livin' La Vida Loca. Their dance earned them 24 out of 40, one of the highest week one scores in Strictly history, as bookies hastily altered their winner odds to make Will the overwhelming favourite to win.

When this week's Strictly songs and dances were announced, with the reveal that Will and Nancy were doing a salsa to Luther Vandross leading to fans predicting that they'd be right up near the top of the leaderboard for the second week in succession. However, that didn't prove to be the case as, after a rather chaotic opening which saw earrings and buttons go missing, Will made a few too many mistakes throughout the routine.

The errors, which a frustrated Will held his hands up to, were reflected in the scores for his and Nancy's performance, with their total of 26, after two 6s and two 7s, substantially less than seven days earlier. As the pair were chatting to Claudia Winkleman, the presenter made mention of the lifts in the routine, with Nancy replying: "I pushed him really hard this week, because I know, automatically from last week to this week, I just wanted to bring the best of him out."

She then turned to Will and said: "Sorry I pushed you too hard." Quick to reassure her, Will responded: "No, no, it's not that...she brings the best out of me. It can happens, it's live," before apologising to his children who were tuning in from home.
